Women's Basketball Defeated at Nyack, 71-45, in CACC Action

NYACK, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team visited Nyack College on Saturday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division matchup. Concordia was unable to capture the win against the Warriors as Nyack took a 71-45 victory at Bowman Gymnasium.

The Clippers scored the opening basket of the first quarter but the Warriors then scored 12 unanswered points to hold a 12-2 advantage at the 4:30 mark. Concordia broke their scoreless drought with 3:39 to play in the period as the Clippers ended the quarter trailing 17-8.

Nyack began the second quarter with a three-point play to regain their double-digit lead as the home team used a 6-0 run and an 8-0 run to hold a 34-12 advantage with three minutes to play in the half. Concordia scored only three more points in the closing minutes of the quarter as the Warriors went into the locker room with a 40-15 lead.

In the third quarter the Clippers came out with a quick three-point play to grab the early momentum. This sparked a 12-5 run for Concordia that brought the score down to 45-27 with 4:47 to go. Nyack would close out the third quarter on a 7-1 run as the Clippers trailed 59-34.

Concordia began the fourth quarter with another run as their four straight points kept the Warriors from scoring for the first 3:37 of play. The two sides alternated points for the remainder of the game as Nyack took the 71-45 win.

Junior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with nine points while adding eight rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) added eight points as sophomore Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded six points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Concordia (1-5, 0-4 CACC) will take a break from conference play to battle Southern Conn. St. on Thursday, December 10th.
