Women's Basketball Drops Home Game to Wilmington (Del.)

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team hosted Wilmington University (Del.) for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon. Concordia would fall to the visiting Wildcats, 74-49 in the Meyer Athletic Center.

The first half saw the Clippers score on their first possession as Wilmington responded with five unanswered points to take the lead. Both sides would keep the score close in the early going until a 21-4 run for the Wildcats gave the visitors the 28-13 lead with 2:11 remaining in the half. Concordia would score four of the last six points to close out the period as the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 30-17.

In the second half Wilmington began with seven unanswered points as Concordia fell behind 37-17. The Clippers broke the drought with a field goal at the 17 minute mark as the Wildcats continued to keep the momentum offensively. Concordia would not be able to catch Wilmington as the Wildcats went on to secure the 74-49 victory.

Freshman Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench to lead the Clippers with 15 points while sophomore Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the starters with 12 points. Rosalbo added seven rebounds while freshman Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.

As a team Concordia shot 27.0% from the field while Wilmington shot 47.7%. The Wildcats held a 48-37 rebounding advantage as the Clippers allowed 29 points off turnovers.

Concordia (3-15, 3-8 CACC) will next visit Dominican (N.Y.) on Wednesday, February 4th for the first of two straight road games.
