Clippers Women's Basketball Defeated in CACC Action at Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team visited Chestnut Hill College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup on Saturday afternoon. Concordia was unable to come away with the win at Sorgenti Arena as the Griffins secured the 81-49 victory.

The Clippers began the first half trailing 10-3 as Chestnut Hill would open up a double-digit lead six minutes into the game. Concordia would score back-to-back buckets with under eight minutes to go in the period to cut their deficit to 12 points at 31-19. The Griffins ended the half on a 9-2 run as the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 49-27.

In the second half neither team scored a basket until 2:40 into the period as Concordia was held scoreless for almost three minutes. Chestnut Hill used 10 unanswered points to open up a 64-31 advantage until the Clippers broke the scoring drought at the 10:47 mark. Concordia would not be able to catch the Griffins in the game as Chestnut Hill would take the 81-49 win.

Freshman Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 13 points off the bench while senior KellyAnn Caravello (Amity Harbor, N.Y.) added 11 points and six rebounds. As a team Concordia shot 30.3% from the field while the Griffins shot a season-best 49.1%. The Clippers were out-rebounded 43-38 as Concordia's bench out-scored Chestnut Hill's bench 27-15.

The Clippers (3-13, 3-6 CACC) will return home for their next game on Tuesday, January 27th. Concordia will host Bloomfield College for a CACC North Division matchup at 5 p.m. in the Meyer Athletic Center.
