RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Concordia College women's basketball team visited Felician College on Saturday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division showdown at Job Gym. The Clippers could not earn the road win as the Golden Falcons captured an 81-65 victory for their first conference win of the season.
Concordia began the first half with the 7-4 lead as Felician rallied off eight unanswered points to take a 12-7 advantage with 14:20 showing on the game clock. The Clippers would continue to keep pace with the Golden Falcons as a 6-0 run later in the period brought Concordia to within a basket at 25-23 with under six minutes to go. Felician held a nine-point lead after a three-point basket at the two minute mark but the Clippers scored the half's last four points to go into the locker room trailing 37-32.
In the second half the Golden Falcons began on an 8-0 run to open up a double digit advantage. Concordia would fall behind by 17 points at 57-40 with 11:27 to go in the half and used a 13-5 run to cut their deficit to single digits, 62-53, with 6:51 remaining. The Clippers would not be able to get any closer as Felician would go on to take the 81-65 victory.
Freshman Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led Concordia with 15 points off the bench as she also added four assists. Senior Mariah Berry (Southington, Conn.) recorded a season-best 12 points while adding five rebounds as both senior Selbe Lo (Dakar, Senegal, Africa) and freshman Brianna Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had 10 points and 14 rebounds a piece. Lo's 14 rebounds was a season-high for her while Hendrick's 10 points tied her career-best.
The Clippers shot 32.9% from the field in the game while the Golden Falcons shot a season-high 51.7% from the field. Concordia held a 46-42 rebounding advantage as Felician held a 14-2 advantage in fastbreak points while the Clippers' bench out-scored the Golden Falcons' bench 17-0.
Concordia (3-10, 3-4 CACC) will next visit Post University for a conference game on Tuesday, January 13th.
