Women’s Basketball Upended by Shippensburg at 50th Annual Pocono Classic

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Concordia College women's basketball team participated in day one of the 50th Annual Pocono Classic hosted by East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon. The Clippers would fall to Shippensburg University, 87-47, at the Koehler Fieldhouse.

In the first half the Raiders would score the game's first 11 points to take the double-digit advantage just over two minutes in. Concordia would break the scoring drought after a layup by senior Selbe Lo (Dakar, Senegal, Africa) at the 17minute mark. Shippensburg would continue to add to their lead on the scoreboard and at halftime the Clippers trailed 50-15.

The Raiders began the second half scoring on their first two possessions as Concordia would look to get into an offensive rhythm. Shippensburg would continue to hold the advantage on the scoreboard throughout the remainder of the game as the Clippers would fall 87-47.

Sophomore Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with 13 points and six assists while adding four rebounds. Freshman Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points and four rebounds while freshman Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added eight points and seven rebounds.

The Clippers shot 36.4% from the field in the game while the Raiders shot 44.8%. Both teams grabbed 41 rebounds apiece while Shippensburg held a 38-6 advantage in points off turnovers.

Concordia (0-5) will be back in action Sunday afternoon to battle East Stroudsburg to conclude their visit at the Pocono Classic.
