Concordia Women's Basketball Edged by Post in Home Opener, 74-66

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team played in their home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Wednesday evening in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Clippers would control a majority of the game but in the end were edged by the Eagles, 74-66.

Post would take the early 6-2 lead in the game as Concordia would keep the score close during the first half. A three-point basket by freshman Kayla Ortiz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) gave the Clippers the lead at 9-8 just five and a half minutes into the game. Concordia would close out the last 5:14 of the half on an 11-3 run as the Clippers went into the locker room with a 33-30 advantage.

In the second half Concordia would maintain their lead and midway through would have a 52-45 advantage. The Eagles would then start to cut into the deficit and with 5:33 to go knotted the score at 58-58. The Clippers would be unable to gain the lead back as Post ended the game on an 8-0 run to claim a 74-66 victory.

Freshman Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench for Concordia to lead the team by tying her career-best of 17 points while freshman Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added career-highs of 12 points and 14 rebounds for her first double-double. The Clippers shot 35.0% in the game while the Eagles shot 33.9% from the field. Concordia held a 34-14 advantage in bench scoring while also holding a 54-48 rebounding advantage.

The Clippers (0-3, 0-1 CACC) will next host Dominican (N.Y.) for a CACC North Division matchup on Tuesday, November 25th.
