Lady Clippers Defeated by Caldwell in Final Home Game, 72-61

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team played in their final home game of the season on Tuesday evening. The Clippers would host Caldwell College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Cougars would earn a 72-61 victory to sweep the season series against Concordia.

Prior to the beginning of the game, senior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) was honored for her hard work and dedication to the women's basketball program as she played in her final home game.

Caldwell began the game with an early 8-2 lead as the Clippers would fall behind by double digits with 11:21 remaining in the half. Concordia would use an 8-0 run late in the period to cut their deficit to single digits with just under five minutes to go. The Cougars would gain their double digit lead back in the closing minutes of the half as the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 38-24.

In the second half Caldwell scored 13 unanswered points to take a 59-31 lead with 13:15 to go. Concordia would respond with a 7-0 run to stop the drought and would slowly cut into their deficit. The Clippers would go on a 13-2 run to only trail by 11 points with 1:45 remaining in the game. Concordia was unable to get any closer as the Cougars would hold on to take a 72-61 victory.

Junior Mariah Berry (Southington, Conn.) led the Clippers with a season-best 21 points off the bench while adding three rebounds, a block, and an assists. Rock would finish her Senior Game with 10 points, five assists, two steals, and a block.

Concordia shot 34.7% from the field in the game while Caldwell shot 33.3%. The Cougars also held a 52-43 rebounding edge but the Clippers' bench outscored Caldwell's bench 30-17.

Concordia (0-24, 0-17 CACC) will be on the road for their next game on Saturday, February 22nd. The Clippers will visit Philadelphia University for a 2 p.m. Tip-off as fans unable to attend the game can follow all of the action via the live video and stats links on ConcordiaClippers.com.
