Women's Basketball Upended by USciences, 69-53

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team was back on the court Saturday afternoon to take on the University of the Sciences in their only matchup of the season. The Devils were able to come away with the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game victory, 69-53, as USciences has now won their 15th game overall this season.

Both teams started out neck-and-neck until a, 8-0 run by the Devils gave the away team an 11-6 advantage with just over 10 minutes to play. The Clippers would battle back to tie the score as USciences ended the half on a 13-6 run to go into the locker room with a 31-21 lead.

In the second half the Devils used 16 unanswered points to hold a 50-25 advantage six minutes into the period. Concordia would trail by as much as 30 in the half but would battle back to cut their deficit to 16 points in the closing minutes. USciences would not allow the Clippers to get any closer as the Devils would go on to take a 69-53 win.

Senior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) led Concordia with a career-high 16 points as she added three rebounds and a steal. Junior Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points off the bench as the Clippers shot 31.7% from the field in the game and also held a 44-43 rebounding edge.

The game highlighted the Lady Clippers showcasing their beautiful pink uniforms designed to raise awareness for funding cancer research. The fans contributed $170 towards the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's continued efforts to defeat cancer. Concordia (0-21, 0-14 CACC) will be on the road for their next game on Tuesday, Feb. 11th. The Clippers will travel to Nyack for a CACC North Division game as tip off is set for 6 p.m. Fans unable to attend the game can follow all of the action via the live video link on ConcordiaClippers.com.
