Clippers Fall to Wilmington, 85-61

Newark, Del. – The Concordia women's basketball team traveled to face the Wilmington (Del.) Wildcats in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon. The Clippers were unable to come away with a win at the WU Athletics Complex as Wilmington took an 85-61 victory.

Concordia began the game with an early 6-2 advantage until the Wildcats would go on a 12-4 run to take a 14-10 advantage midway through the half. The Clippers would keep the score close through much of the first half until Wilmington went on a 9-2 run to hold a 27-22 lead with 4:25 to go in the period. The Wildcats would continue to hold the advantage on the scoreboard as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 38-30.

In the second half the Clippers began with hitting their first two field goals but Wilmington would respond with seven unanswered points to take a double-digit advantage. Concordia would not be able to cut into their deficit as the Wildcats went on to take an 85-61 victory.

Junior Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) led the Clippers with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field while adding five rebounds. Junior Selbe Lo (Dakar, Senegal, Africa) tied her season-best of 10 points while adding a team-best six rebounds. Concordia shot 41.8% from the field during the game while holding a 40-36 rebounding advantage.

The Clippers (0-19, 0-12 CACC) will return home for a CACC North Division game against Dominican (N.Y.) on Wednesday evening.
