Concordia Drops a 55-38 Decision to Chestnut Hill in CACC Game

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia women's basketball team hosted Chestnut Hill College for their only regular season Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon. Scoring would be hard to come by as the Griffins won 55-38 in the Meyer Athletic Center.

The first half began with both teams looking to grab an early lead as neither team was able to hold more then a four point advantage for the first 15 minutes of play. Chestnut Hill would score five unanswered points to take a 21-16 lead with 3:22 remaining in the first half but the Clippers would respond with a 4-0 run. At the half Concordia trailed 26-21 after the Griffins hit a three-point basket to end the first half.

In the second half the Clippers used strong three-point shooting to not fall behind until an 8-0 run by Chestnut Hill gave the away team a 40-32 advantage with just under 10 minutes to play. Concordia would break the drought after a pair of free throws by freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) but the Griffins would extend their lead to 14 after eight more unanswered points. The Clippers were unable to bounce back in the closing minutes as Chestnut Hill would take a 55-38 win.

Senior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) led Concordia with nine points, all off three-point baskets, while Rosalbo added eight points and freshman Victoria Rubin (Staten Island, N.Y.) came off the bench to score seven points. The Clippers shot 25.0% from the field in the game as the Griffins held a 49-39 rebounding advantage.

Concordia (0-17, 0-10 CACC) will be on the road for their next two games. The Clippers will visit Bloomfield for a CACC North Division game as tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th.
