Concordia Defeated by CACC Rival Nyack, 62-51

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team returned home for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday afternoon to face Nyack College. Concordia was unable to capture a win against their CACC North Division rival as the Warriors secured a 62-51 win at the Meyer Athletic Center.

The opening minutes of play would be a back-and-fourth battle between the two sides as neither team was able to gain an early lead. Nyack would use a 10-0 run to open up a 15-9 advantage with 14:07 remaining in the first half. The Clippers responded with 13 unanswered points to take a 21-15 lead as 7:30 remained in the period. The Warriors ended the half on a 16-4 run as Concordia would go into the locker room trailing 31-25.

In the second half Nyack used an early 11-0 run to open up a 15-point advantage. The Clippers rallied off seven unanswered points mid way through the period to cut their deficit to single digits at 53-44 with just over nine minutes to play. The Warriors would respond with a 6-0 run as Concordia was not able to get any closer. Nyack would go on to secure their fourth victory of the season, 62-51.

Freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 13 points, five assists, and three rebounds while junior Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) added 11 points and six rebounds. Rosalbo has now scored in double figures in seven consecutive games while freshman Victoria Rubin (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded a career-high 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double.

As a team Concordia made a season-high nine three-point baskets. The Warriors shot 29.7% from the field in the game while the Clippers shot 33.9%.

Concordia (0-14, 0-7 CACC) will next host Felician on Saturday afternoon for the first of two regular season conference meetings. The game is set to tip at 1 p.m. as fans unable to attend the game can follow all of the action via the live stats and video links on ConcordiaClippers.com.
