Clippers Drop CACC Road Game, 85-58, Against Georgian Court

Lakewood, N.J. – The Concordia women's basketball team returned to the basketball court for their first game of the 2014 calendar year on Saturday afternoon. The Clippers visited Georgian Court for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game as the Lions would take an 85-58 victory at the GCU Wellness Center.

Concordia began the game trailing 7-4 in the early going as the Clippers would fall behind by seven points but six unanswered points would make the score 13-12 in favor of Georgian Court with 10:58 remaining. The Lions rallied off 10 straight points to open up a 27-15 lead as Concordia stopped the scoreless drought with a pair of free throws by freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 6:19 left in the half. From that point on the Clippers were out-scored 14-9 as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 41-26.

In the second half the Lions would begin with a 16-2 run to extend their advantage to 57-28. The Clippers responded with six straight points but Georgian Court would continue to hold their lead as the Lions would go on to take an 85-58 win.

Junior Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with a team-high 19 points off the bench which included a 13-of-14 performance from the foul line. Rosalbo added 11 points and three assists while junior Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J) chipped in with six points and a team-best five rebounds.

Georgian Court shot 48.1% from the field during the game while the Clippers shot 31.6%. The Lions also held a 43-28 rebounding advantage while Concordia's bench out-scored Georgian Court's bench 26-16.

The Clippers (0-13, 0-6 CACC) will return home for their next game which will take place on Wednesday, January 8th.
