Women's Basketball Drops 71-53 Decision to Bloomfield in CACC Action

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team returned home to the Meyer Athletic Center on Wednesday evening for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup against Bloomfield College. Concordia was unable to snap their winless streak as the Deacons secured a 71-53 win for their fifth victory of the season.

Bloomfield began the first half with 10 unanswered points until the Clippers stopped the drought on a three-point basket. Concordia would use an 11-5 run to cut the deficit to two points with 7:03 remaining after two free throws by junior Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.). The Clippers would keep the score close until the Deacons ended the half on a 8-2 run to go into the locker room with a 32-25 lead.

In the second half Bloomfield used a 12-3 run to take a 44-28 advantage with 14:18 on the clock. Concordia would fall behind as many as 20 with six minutes to play in the half as the Deacons would control the second half to go on to take a 71-53 victory.

Junior Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) led the Clippers with a career-high 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 13 points, one shy of her career-best, while Burns chipped in with 11 points.

Bloomfield shot 43.8% from the field in the game while Concordia shot 32.1%. The Deacons also held a 46-37 rebounding edge and a 46-12 points in the paint advantage.

The Clippers (0-10, 0-3 CACC) will be on the road for their next game. Concordia will visit Goldey-Beacom for their only regular season meeting on Saturday afternoon.
