Concordia Drops CACC Opener to Post, 101-80

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team opened up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Wednesday evening with a North Division matchup against Post University. The Eagles would grab a 101-80 victory over Concordia to earn their first victory of the season.

Both teams would keep the score close in the first 10 minutes of play until 6-0 run by Post gave the away team a 24-19 advantage. The Clippers would battle back and trailed 31-30 with 4:37 remaining but the Eagles would end the remainder of the half scoring eight unanswered points to go into the locker room with a 39-30 lead.

In the second half Post would take a 10 point advantage with 15:00 minutes remaining. Concordia was unable to mount a comeback in the latter part of the period as the Eagles would go on to win 101-80.

Freshman Rebecca Gordon (Patchogue, N.Y.) scored a career-high 21 points, eight rebounds, and eight blocks, all career-highs. Junior Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) also added 21 points, also her career-best, while both junior Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) and freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 10 points apiece.

Post shot 50.7% from the field as compared to 40.9% for the Clippers. Concordia held a 46-39 advantage in rebounds while the Eagles held a 21-11 advantage in fastbreak points during the game.

The Clippers (0-3, 0-1 CACC) will be on the road as well as Concordia will battle Stonehill at 5:30 p.m. in their first game of the Assumption Tournament in Worcester, Mass. Fans unable attend the tournament can follow the action via the live stats and live video links on ConcordiaClippers.com.
