Clippers' Second Half Comeback Falls Short, 82-76, to Caldwell

Caldwell, N.J. – The Concordia women's basketball team visited Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division foe Caldwell College on Tuesday evening in the first of two meetings this season. The Clippers erased a 22 point deficit in the game but were unable to hold off the Cougars in the closing minutes as Concordia dropped an 82-76 decision.

Concordia began the evening with a 7-4 lead but Caldwell rallied off 19-6 run to take a 23-13 lead with 10:15 left in the half. The Clippers would only score four points in the last five minutes of the first half as the Cougars went into the locker room with a 36-23 lead.

In the second half Concordia would fall behind as many as 22 points by the 14:16 mark but the three-point shooting for the Clippers would get the team back into the game. Over the next 6:23 Concordia would knock down eight three-point baskets and tied the game at 62-62 with 7:53 left in the half. The Clippers would keep pace with Caldwell up until the last two minutes as the Cougars converted on 9-of-10 foul shots to put the game away and capture the 82-76 win.

Senior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) led Concordia with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field while adding six assists, three steals and two blocks in 36 minutes of action. Senior Sade Jones (Patterson, N.J.) added 17 points, nine assists and four rebounds while junior Victoria Jones (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. Junior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore Mariah Berry (Southington, Conn.) both added 10 points apiece as the Clippers were outrebounded 53-24.

Concordia (7-16, 6-9 CACC) will host Georgian Court University on Thursday in their rescheduled game which was postponed last Saturday because of the snowstorm.
