Clippers Win Third Straight After a 68-65 Victory over Bloomfield

Bloomfield, N.J. – The Concordia women's basketball team were on the road Wednesday evening to battle Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup. The Clippers used six straight free-throws to end the game as they took a 68-65 win over the Deacons for their first win against Bloomfield since 1987 according to historical records.

Concordia began the game with a 4-0 advantage until the Deacons rallied off 11 unanswered points. The Clippers would battle back to tie the game at 16-16 with 7:32 remaining in the opening 20 minutes. Senior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) would score the final five points for Concordia in the first half as the Clippers went into the locker room with a 29-26 advantage.

In the second half the score would reaming tight as neither team could grab an advantage. The three-point shooting for Concordia would help to keep them in the game as the Clippers converted on six three-point baskets in the half. Bloomfield scored five straight points to take a 54-50 lead with 8:15 remaining. Concordia would regain the lead at the 3:57 mark after a three-point basket gave them a two point advantage. The Deacons would once again take the lead back but the Clippers secured the victory with six straight free-throws in the final 1:22 to secure a 68-65 win. A desperation three-point attempt by Bloomfield at the buzzer would be off target as the Deacons fell to 9-9 overall.

Agard led Concordia with a season-high 24 points and 15 rebounds while adding five assists in 40 minutes of action. Senior Sade Jones (Patterson, N.J.) added 12 points while sophomore Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points and junior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) finished with 10 points. The Clippers connected on a season-best 11 three-point baskets as Concordia snapped a seven-game loosing streak against the Deacons with their last victory coming on Jan. 17, 1987 with a 56-52 victory at Bloomfield.

The Clippers (5-14, 4-7 CACC) will next host Wilmington University (Del.) in their only CACC regular season game on Saturday afternoon. Tip off is set for 1pm in the Meyer Athletic Center as fans unable to attend the game can follow the action via Live Stats and Live Video on ConcordiaClippers.com.
