Clippers Fall in Non-Conference Action at Adelphi, 72-49

Garden City, N.Y. – The Concordia women's basketball team traveled to Adelphi University on Friday evening to face the Panthers in a non-conference game. The Clippers were held to only 19 points in the first half and this would allow Adelphi to cruise to a 72-49 victory over Concordia at the Panthers' Center for Recreation and Sport.

The Panthers opened up the game scoring 12 unanswered points as the first field goal for the Clippers did not occur until the 12:00 minute mark. That basket for Concordia sparked a 7-0 run to cut their deficit to single digits at 19-10. Adelphi would regain their double-digit lead and went into the locker room with 38-19 lead.

In the second half the Clippers would attack the basket as they scored many of their opening shots on layup opportunities. In the middle of the period Concordia would go on a 12-2 run as the Panthers would hold a 54-38 lead with 9:58 remaining. The Clippers were unable to make another run at Adelphi as the Panthers would go on to win their sixth game of the season.

Senior's Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) and Sade Jones (Patterson, N.J.) both led Concordia with 12 points apiece. Jones led the Clippers with seven rebounds while Agard added six rebounds. The Panthers shot 43.1% (28-of-65) from the field while Concordia shot 25.4% (15-of-59). With the loss the Clippers are now 3-30 against Adelphi all-time according to historical records.

Concordia (2-11, 1-5 CACC) will have some time off until their next game which will also be their final non-conference game. The Clippers will travel to Lincoln (Pa.) on Sunday, December 30th for a 3pm game at the Manuel Rivero Gymnasium in Lincoln University, Pa.
