Concordia Upended by No. 13 Holy Family, 77-49

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Clippers women's basketball team visited the No. 13th ranked Holy Family University Tigers for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon. Concordia would trail by only four points at the half but a strong second half by Holy Family led them to a 77-49 victory, their eighth straight win of the season.

The Clippers would begin the game with a 7-1 lead as the Tigers missed on their first 12 shots of the game. Holy Family would then begin to hit shots and took a 30-20 lead with 5:19 remaining in the half. Concordia would end the half on a 10-4 run which included a three-point basket at the buzzer by junior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) as the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 34-30.

The Tigers would come out in the second half looking like a totally different team as they began the half on a 22-4 run. Holy Family would continue to score on offense and step up their defensive play as Concordia could not close the gap. The Tigers would lead by 28 points, their largest of the game, after a three-point basket at the 2:22 mark gave them a 73-45 lead. The Clippers could not mount a comeback as the team only scored 19 points as compared to 43 points by Holy Family in the second half.

Sophomore Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) came off the bench to lead Concordia with a team-high 17 points and four assists in 36 minutes of action. Senior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds while junior Victoria Jones (Staten Island, N.Y.) added seven points and team-highs of 10 rebounds, four blocks and three steals. The Tigers edged the Clippers in assists, 20-10, and rebounds, 56-41.

Concordia (2-10, 1-5 CACC) will next travel to Adelphi University for a non-conference game. The Clippers will take to the court of the Center for Recreation and Sport on Friday, December 14th with tip-off set for 5:30pm in Garden City, N.Y.
