Concordia Crushes Nyack, 71-28, for their First Conference Victory

Nyack, N.Y. – The Clippers women's basketball team traveled to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division opponent Nyack College on Tuesday evening. Concordia would crush their opponent with a 43 point victory, 71-28, as 10 different players scored for the Clippers.

To begin the game Concordia jumped out to an early 15-2 lead as the Warriors went scoreless for a span of 7:14 early in the half. The Clippers would take a 31-13 lead after a basket with 3:15 remaining as neither team would score to end the half. Concordia went into the locker room with their largest halftime lead this season.

In the second half the Clippers would come out and extend their lead to 30 with 15:57 left on the clock. Concordia would then take a 40 point lead with 11:41 remaining as the team held Nyack to only four points scored at this point. The Clippers would be able to coast for the remainder of the game to take the victory, 71-28, for their first CACC win of the season.

Senior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) led Concordia with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field while adding six rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists while senior Sade Jones (Patterson, N.J.) came off the bench to score nine points. The Clippers recorded a season-best 54 rebounds as they held Nyack to 13.8% (9-of-65) shooting from the field.

The 43 point victory for Concordia is the largest margin of victory since a 92-44 win over Mt. St. Vincent in the 1997-98 season which was also the last time the Clippers defeated an opponent by more than 40 points. The last time Concordia held an opponent to under 30 points and won the game was during the 2000-01 season when the Clippers defeated SUNY Purchase, 42-22.

Concordia (2-8, 1-4 CACC) will face undefeated NYIT on the road in a non-conference game Thursday evening. The Clippers will take to the court of Recreation Hall in Old Westbury, N.Y. at 6:30pm as fans unable to attend can follow the action live Live Stats and Live Video on ConcordiaClippers.com.
