Clippers Fall at Home to Goldey-Beacom, 71-45

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia women's basketball team returned home for their final home game of the 2012 calendar year on Friday evening to host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Goldey-Beacom College. In their only regular season meeting the Lightning would take control of the game from the opening tip as the Clippers fell 71-45 at the Meyer Athletic Center.

Both teams would struggle in the early going as the first field goal was not scored until the 15:31 mark. Goldey-Beacom would take a 12-5 advantage as Concordia were held scoreless for over six minutes in the closing minutes of the first half. The Lighting would go into the locker room with a 34-18 lead as the Clippers only made four field goals in the first 20 minutes.

After scoring a jump shot at the 9:39 mark in the second half to take a 20 point lead, Goldey-Beacom would go on a 13-1 run to put the game away. The Lightning never trailed in the game as they went on to take the 71-45 victory and snap a five-game losing skid.

Sophomore Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) led Concordia with a team-high eight points and five rebounds. Sophomore KellyAnn Sullivan (Amity Harbor, N.Y.) and freshman Khadijah Donaldson (Valley Stream, N.Y.) both came off the bench to score six points apiece as nine different players scored for the Clippers. Concordia shot a season-low 25.0% (13-of-52) from the field as Goldey-Beacom held a 47-38 advantage in rebounds.

The Clippers (1-8, 0-4 CACC) will be on the road for their next seven games. Concordia will play at Nyack in a CACC game this Tuesday, Dec. 4th with tip-off set for 6pm.
