Clippers Upended by Bridgeport in Non-Conference Action, 69-53

Bridgeport, Conn. – The Clippers women's basketball team battled non-conference opponent the University of Bridgeport on the road Saturday afternoon. With only a three-point halftime deficit Concordia looked to gain their first win of the season but a strong second half by the Purple Knights gave them a 69-53 victory.

The first half would be close as neither team gained more than a five point lead in the opening 20 minutes of play. Five three-point baskets by the Clippers would keep the team in the game going into the locker room as the teams had similar shooting numbers.

Bridgeport opened the second half on a 17-4 run over a span of 8:55 to take a 53-37 advantage. Concordia would only score seven points in the final eight minutes of play as the Clippers were unable to overcome the deficit. A 17-2 edge in free-throw baskets made by the Purple Knights helped the team secure their third victory of the season to remain undefeated on the season.

Senior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) led Concordia with 13 points and seven rebounds while adding two steals, two blocks and an assist. Junior Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, N.Y.) came off the bench to score nine points while senior Sade Jones (Patterson, N.J.) chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.

The Clippers (0-4, 0-1 CACC) will continue their five-game road trip with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at Post University on Tuesday. Concordia will take to the court of the Drubner Center in Waterbury, Conn. at 6pm. Fans unable to attend can follow the action via the Live Stats link on ConcordiaClippers.com.
