Clippers Fall on the Road to Philadelphia U., 100-51

Philadelphia, PA – The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball team traveled to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division foe Philadelphia University this afternoon. The Rams jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the Clippers, 100-51, at the Gallagher Center.

Philadelphia got off to a quick start as they began the game on an 18-2 run. Concordia began to find their rhythm offensively as they five straight points. The Rams continued to hit their shots as they opened up a 20 point lead with 9:18 left in the first half. The Clippers knocked the deficit down to only 14 points only to have Philadelphia bring it back over a 20-point margin. By the end of the half the Rams held a 45-23 lead going into the locker room.

In the second half, Concordia was ice cold as none of their shots would fall. During the first seven minutes of the period, the Clippers were outscored 21-3 as they fell behind by 40 points. The Rams put their offense on auto drive as they never relinquished the lead.

Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, NY) led the Clippers in scoring with 13 points of the bench which included four three-point baskets. Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) recorded her 13th double-double of the season with a 10 point and a career-high 23 rebound performance. As a team, Concordia shot 19.6% (18-of-92) from the field and recorded nine blocked shots.

The Clippers (6-15, 5-9 CACC) will be back on the road this Monday, February 6th, to take on Wilmington (DE). Concordia and the Wildcats will take to the court of Pratt Gymnasium at 5pm.
