Agard’s 32 Points Leads Concordia Past Georgian Court, 78-74

Lakewood, NJ – The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball were on the road this afternoon as they faced Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Georgian Court. In their only regular season meeting, the Clippers won 78-74 behind Krystina Agard's (Queens, NY) 32 point performance.

Concordia began the game on a 7-0 run which was countered by a 12-0 run by the Lions as the Clippers went scoreless for 3:27. Both teams kept the score close through much of the first half as neither team could gain an edge.

After Georgian Court tied the game at 24-24 with 8:05 remaining in the half, Concordia scored five quick points to take the lead. After a timeout, the Clippers maintained their lead until 3:23 remained in the period. The Lions would keep pace with Concordia for the remainder of the half and held a one-point lead, 47-46, going into the locker room.

Georgian Court began the second half on a 5-0 run as they looked to build their lead to double digits. The Clippers bounced right back to get within a point with 15:47 remaining.

With under 10 minutes to play, the Lions only held a four point lead and Concordia fought their way to tie the game at 67-67 after two free throws by Agard. This sparked a 10-3 run by the Clippers during the next 4:25 as they led 75-70 in the closing minutes.

Georgian Court managed to get within two points after a jump shot with 52 seconds remaining. Concordia turned the ball over on their next possession as the Lions still had a chance to tie the game but missed on their next shot opportunity. Georgian Court was forced to foul the Clippers and they hit both free throws to take a four point lead with 21 seconds to go.

During the Lion's last opportunities, they missed a quick jump shot but grabbed the offensive rebound. Their next shot was blocked by Agard with 10 seconds remaining but kept possession after the ball went out of bounds. Georgian Court then put up two three-point shots, both of which did not fall, as Concordia held on to the victory.

Agard's 32 points, her most as a member of the Clippers, came on 9-of-16 shooting from the field and 13-of-15 from the foul line. She also added six rebounds, two blocks, two assists, and a steal. Sophomore Tara-Ann Rock (Queens, NY) came off the bench to score 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field and chipped in with four rebounds, a block and an assist. As a team, Concordia shot 40.7% (24-of-59) from the field while being outrebounded 53-32.

The Clippers (3-8, 2-3 CACC) will take a one game break from their CACC schedule as they welcome Bellarmine University to the Meyer Athletic Center this week. Concordia will battle the Knights on Wednesday, December 14th with a tip-of time of 5pm.
