Clippers Fall in First Conference Game, 72-38 to Felician

Rutherford, NJ – The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball team opened up their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule against Felician College this evening. The Golden Falcons held the Clippers to only 16 first half points as they won 72-38 for their second win of the season.

In the first half, Concordia stuck close to their opponents as they only trailed by a basket midway through the period. Felician looked into the paint for a majority of their opportunities as seven of their nine field goals came off layups in the half. The Clippers' free throw shooting kept them within striking distance as they went into the locker room down nine at 25-16.

Concordia managed to keep with the Golden Falcons in the early minutes of the second half. After a layup by sophomore Katelin Kube (West Babylon, NY), the Clippers found themselves down by only 10 points with 12:23 remaining.

A 9-0 run by Felician prompted Concordia to call a timeout with just under 10 minutes to play in hopes to regain their composure. A three-point field goal by junior Krystina Agard (Queens, NY) at the 9:17 mark stopped the run but it would also be the last field goal for the Clippers until the closing minutes. The Golden Falcons would go on a 19-1 run in a five minute span to put the game out of reach.

Agard led Concordia in tonight's game with 10 points while adding nine rebounds, three steals and two assists. Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) added eight points, a team-high 14 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. As a team, the Clippers shot 18.6% (13-of-70) from the field while being outrebounded 59-42 by Felician. The Golden Falcons pushed the ball well throughout the night as they outscored Concordia 14-2 in fast break points.

The Clippers (1-6, 0-1 CACC) will be on the road again for their next game. On Saturday, December 3rd, Concordia will face Dominican College for a 1pm showdown in Orangeburg, NY.
