Lions Top Clippers, 79-54

Rockville Centre, NY – The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball traveled to Molloy College for a non-conference game this evening. The Lions managed to hold off the Clippers in the second half to secure their third win of the season, 79-54.

Concordia was down early in the first half as Molloy began the game on a 14-4 run. Once junior Krystina Agard (Queens, NY) made a basket to cut the lead to single digits, the Clippers began to match the Lions shot-for-shot. Six straight free-throw baskets by Molloy allowed them to extend their lead and eventually went into the locker room with a 40-22 lead.

Concordia tried to get back into the game with their three-point shooting but nothing was falling for them tonight. The Clippers shot 2-of-18 (11.1%) on their three-point attempts in the game as the Lions extended their lead in the second half.

A 15-4 run by Concordia cut the deficit to single digits with 12 minutes to play but Molloy once again extended their lead on way to securing the victory. The Lions were led by Amanda Bartlett's (Mesa, AZ) 28 points as the Clippers had no answers for her shooting.

Agard led Concordia with 12 points while chipping in with eight rebounds. Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) led the team with 20 rebounds and two blocks while adding 10 points for her second straight double-double. As a team, the Clippers shot 27.6% (16-of-58) from the field while allowing 22 points off turnovers. The bench for Molloy outscored Concordia's bench 25-14.

The Clippers (1-2, 0-0 CACC) will play their first home game this season on Monday, November 21st. The Clippers will host NYIT for a 5pm game which will take place in the Meyer Athletic Center on the campus of Concordia College.
