Agard Nets 1,000th Career Point in 81-61 Victory over Queens (NY)

Albany, NY – The Concordia College Clippers women's basketball team were back in action this afternoon as they faced Queens College to conclude the St. Rose Tournament. In a game that saw junior Krystina Agard (Queens, NY) score her 1,000th career point, the Clippers cruised to a 20-point victory over the Knights, 81-61, for their first victory this season.

It was a memorable game for Agard as she reached the 1,000 point plateau in only her second game of her third year of collegiate basketball. Her record point came with 8:47 remaining in the first half. Agard converted on a layup to give the Clippers a 25-23 lead as the two-point basket gave her 1,001 points.

Following the record breaking basket, both teams attempted to secure a sizeable lead but neither team could get more than a four point lead. At the end of the half, Concordia held onto a slight 37-35 lead.

In the second half, the Clippers would shoot 50% (16-of-32) from the field to take a lead which propelled them to the win. Solid defense allowed Concordia to hold the Knights to shoot only 25% (9-of-36) from the field in the half.

Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY) finished with a double-double as she led the Clippers with 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field and recorded 15 rebounds. Agard finished her strong performance with five steals, four assists and three blocks to go with her 22 points.

First-year player Mariah Berry (Southington, CT) came off the bench for Concordia to chip in with 10 points, four rebounds and two steals. As a team, Concordia shot 52.5% (31-of-59) from the field while causing Queens to commit 25 turnovers. This allowed the Clippers to score 26 additional points off the mistakes by the Knights.

Concordia (1-1, 0-0 CACC) will now have a few days off until their next contest. The Clippers will be on the road again to face non-conference opponent Molloy on Wednesday, November 16th. The 7pm game will take place in Rockville Centre, NY.
