Clippers get thwarted in second half by Chargers

The Concordia College Women's Basketball team continued their homestead as they hosted the Dominican College Chargers.  The Chargers grabbed the first bucket of the game but the Clippers quickly answered back with two made free throws by Shelley Monahan.  The Clippers then went on a 9-0 run in the  next four minutes of play.  The Chargers came back with back to back jumpers to cut the Clipper lead down and then tied the game up with 14:36 left.  The Chargers took their turn with the lead but the Clippers grabbed got some fresh legs and reclaimed the lead with 10:16 left.  The Clippers continued to push hard against the Chargers and held a double digit lead through the rest of the first half.  At the end of the first twenty minutes the Clippers lead the Chargers 48-33. 

With the second half of the game underway, the Clippers started to see their comfortable lead disappear.  The Chargers pressed the Clippers from the opening of the second half and did not let up.  The Clippers tried to work hard to keep their lead and were able to hold the Chargers off for most of the half.  The Chargers took their first lead of the second half with 4:56 left in the game.  The Clippers battled hard for the last minutes as they stayed tied or within one point.  The Chargers took the last minute of scoring to themselves and stole the game from the Clippers 76-69. 

Shelley Monahan topped the points for the Clippers with 16 while she added 4 assists.  Chanessa Blakemore posted 14 points and 13 rebounds while grabbing 4 blocks, 3 assists and 3 steals for her night.  Krystina Agard came away with 12 points and 11 rebounds along with 3 assists and 2 steals. 

The Clippers will host Bloomfield College this Saturday, December 11th at 1:00pm.
