Eagles halted Clippers in CACC action

The Clippers opened a CACC week long battle with the Post University Eagles.  A jumper from Chanessa Blakemore started the ball rolling for the Clippers.  With two jumpers from Katie Nikosey and one tacked on by Shelley Monahan the Clippers moved to lead by five over the visiting Eagles.  As their momentum kept rolling, the Clippers stretched their lead to 11 with 12:40 left in the half.  The Eagles then put a stop to the Clippers scoring for the next nine and a half minutes as they controlled the scoring with an 16-0 run to take the lead away from the Clippers.  As the clock hit zero to end the first half the Clippers trailed the Eagles 25-30.

The Clippers started off slow in the second half but were able to pick it up and tie the game up at 36-36 with 11:55 to go in the game. As the game continued the Clippers battled hard with the Eagles and kept nipping at their heels for the next eight minutes of play.  The Eagles then got a second wind and reclaimed a lead while they were able to hold off the Clippers.  As the clock ran down the Clippers were running out of opportunities and fell to the Eagles 53-62.

Krystina Agard posted 12 points while nabbing 9 boards on the night.  Shelley Monahan added 12 points and 7 rebounds.  Amanda Eggink came up big on the defensive side with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks for her nights.  Tara-Ann Rock tallied up 10 points while adding 3 steals.

The Clippers continue their CACC week long home event as they host the Dominican College Chargers this Thursday, December 9th at 5:00pm.
