Monahan puts up 20 points in effort against NYIT

The Clippers headed to face off against the NYIT Bears for the second time this season.  With the first match-up between the Clippers and the Bears going to the Clippers side, the Bears looked to even the series up and started off the game well as they headed on an 11-0 scoring run in the first three minutes of play.

The Clippers then, over the next five and a half minutes, worked their way back to within just one point of the Bears.  With lay-ups from Chanessa Blakemore and Shelley Monahan the Clippers fought hard and with 8:28 left in the half they tied the game up.  A back and forth battle ensued between the teams as each would take their leads and the other tying the game up.  At the end of the first half the score was tied, for the fifth time in the game, at 41-41.

Katie Nikosey started things off in the second half for the Clippers as she knocked down a jumper for the Clippers lead.  The Clippers then were stunned by the Bears as the Bears went on a 16-4 scoring run in the next four minutes of play.  The Clippers tried to fight against the Bears but the Bears were holding them at bay.  After the clock hit zero, the Bears even up the season series with the 84-68 victory over the Clippers.

Shelley Monahan led for the Clippers with 20 points including going 9-11 from the line.  Krystina Agard and Chanessa Blakemore tapped in 12 points a piece while Agard added 8 boards to Blakemore's 6.

The Clippers will return home tomorrow, Tuesday, December 7th as they host the Post University Eagles at 5:00pm.
