Clippers grab first win of season 79-68 over Bears

The Clippers hosted the NYIT Bears in their 2010-2011 home opener today.  The Clippers came out strong in the first half and took the lead early on over the Bears.  The Bears tried to get back in the game but the Clippers held them off.  With the Clippers shooting 45% from the field, they found themselves comfortably on top at the half 39-27. 

The Bears took the second half and showed their strength as they came back from their 12 point deficit and took a small two point lead over the Clippers ten minutes in.  The Clippers then battled it out, going back and forth with the ball, and eventually found themselves back on top.  The Bears tried to fight back but the Clippers worked hard and pushed themselves to stretch out their lead and hold it until the clock hit zero.  With the time finished the Clippers grabbed their first win of the season 79-68. 

Chanessa Blakemore hit the boards for the Clippers coming away with a season high 21 rebounds while she added 10 points for a double-double along with 3 blocks for the game.  Shelley Monahan posted a game high of 22 points and tacked on 7 rebounds with 3 assists and 4 steals on the day.  Krystina Agard joined in with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the game while Khea Gibbs posted 19 points with 3 steals. 

The Clippers will next hit the road once more as they travel to Felician College on December 1st at 6:00pm.
