The Clippers opened their season up down at the James A Richardson Tournament in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.  The Clippers first opponent would be the host school of Lincoln University.

With a few nerves to get over in the first minute of their season opener the Clippers hit their mark first.  The Lincoln University Lions showed their mark next.  With each team taking their shots the back and forth battle begun.  The Lions took the first small lead of five over the Clippers six minutes into the game.  After a few minutes of battling Kayla Koch hit a three pointer to tie the game.  The Clippers were able to build on their momentum in the next couple of minutes as they went on a 7-0 scoring run with the help of Shelley Monahan (4 points in the run) and Kasey Grisanti (2 points in scoring run).  The Lions came roaring back and by the end of the half had tied the game up, 24-24.

Coming out of the halftime, the Clippers fired the first shot.  The Lions though pushed back and took the lead one more time.  The Lions held their small lead through the next twelve minutes of play as the Clippers worked feverishly to nab the lead back.  With back to back three-pointers from Dana Rommel (20 points on the night), the Clippers grabbed the lead from the Lions.  The Lions retaliated back with a three of their own to tie the game up.  The battle continued into a running game as both teams were trying to get that game winning shot off as the seconds ticked down.  The Lions took a two point lead with just eleven seconds to go.  With an offensive rebound and an instant lay-up by Shelley Monahan (8 points, 7 rebounds on the night), the Clippers tied the game up.  With just six seconds left on the clock the Lions scored and were fouled sealing the Lions victory of 49-46.

Dana Rommel put up 20 points, going 4 for 4 from the line and 7 for 14 from the field.  Kayla Koch hit the boards with 8 rebounds while Shelley Monahan was behind her with 7 rebounds. 

The Clippers will face off next against Livingstone College at the James A Richardson Tournament.
