Softball Ends Season With Walk-Off Win, Splits Doubleheader With Goldey-Beacom

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Down to their final collegiate at bats in the second outing of Tuesday afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader, senior designated hitter Tori Tansley (Old Forge, Pa.) and senior catcher Allison Beltz (Whitehall, Pa.) made the most of their last trip to the batter's box with back-to-back singles in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the game-winning run home and propel the Concordia College New York softball team to a 5-4 walk-off victory after the Clippers fell in the opener to visiting Goldey-Beacom College, 6-1.

NOTES
• Concordia ends the season 13-23, 9-17 in CACC play.

• Goldey-Beacom ends the season 10-36, 8-18 in league action.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 1)
• Freshman left fielder Carly Berezny (Oxford, N.J.) went 2-3.

• Tansley went 1-2 with one run scored and one walk.

• Sophomore right-handed pitcher Ashley Walsh (Scranton, Pa.) tossed a complete game, allowing six runs off 14 hits with two strikeouts.

• For Goldey-Beacom, Jess Lusk went 3-4 with two RBI. Taylor Beres got the start on the mound, allowing one run off seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks in the complete-game victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
• Leading off the top of the first with a single, Zoe Lockwood rounded the bases off a two-out single from Lusk to give GBC an early 1-0 lead.

• Reaching base with a leadoff walk in the bottom of the second, Tansley scored off a Goldey-Beacom wild pitch to even the score at 1-all.

• Leading off the top of the fourth with a base hit, pinch-running Noelle Gramlich scored when a Lightning caught stealing a base before a Jaeda Henriquez single sent Kasey Goshorn home and Taylor Beres single platted J. Henriquez to create a 4-1 score.

• Reaching base with a one-out single, Braydee Whitman scored off a Lusk base hit to extend the separation to 5-1.

• Leading off the top of the sixth with a double, pinch-running Maddie Godwin scored off an Ali Henriquez single to create the final score.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 1)
• Concordia recorded seven hits, the Lightning tallied 14.

• The Clippers left seven runner on base, Goldey-Beacom stranded three.

• Concordia committed one error.

• GBC stole one base.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 2)
• Freshman first baseman Ashdon Clark (Gouldsboro, Pa.) went 3-4 with three RBI and one run scored.

• Freshman second baseman Ellen Little (Port Deposit, Md.) went a career-best 3-3 with one run scored.

• Junior RHP MacKenna Powell (Milford, Conn.) got the start, allowing four runs off seven hits with two strikeouts in the complete-game victory.

• For Goldey-Beacom, Rachel Davis went 2-3 with one RBI and one walk. Alexa Calareso got the start, allowing five runs off 11 hits in 6.1 innings.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
• Concordia loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the third, sending sophomore center fielder Kiana Sauter (Waymart, Pa.) home off a two-out single from sophomore shortstop Stephanie Ryder (New Rochelle, N.Y.) before a double from Clark sent senior right fielder Yeisy Cruz (Bronx, Pa.), Little and Ryder home to create a 4-0 lead.

• Starting the top of the seventh with a hit by pitch, the visitors used four singles and one walk with two outs to score four runs and knot the score at 4-all.

• Three-straight singles from Clark, Tansley and Beltz with one out in the bottom of the seventh sent Clark home for the game-winning run.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 2)
• Concordia tallied 11 hits, the Lightning had seven.

• The Clippers left eight runners on base, Goldey-Beacom stranded six.

• Goldey-Beacom committed one error.

• GBC stole one base
