BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore shortstop Stephanie Ryder (New Rochelle, N.Y.) matched her career high with three hits in the opening contest of Wednesday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Felician University, recording the same amount of hits in the second outing with senior outfielder Yeisy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) hitting her first home run as a member of the Concordia College New York softball team in a 10-2, 13-7 doubleheader setback.
NOTES
• Concordia falls to 9-15 overall, 5-11 in CACC play.
• Felician improves to 11-24, 7-9 in league action.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 1)
• Ryder went 3-3 with one RBI
• Freshman designated plater Jordan Bordonaro (Lake Grove, N.Y.) went 1-1 with two walks and one run scored.
• Freshman third baseman Carly Berezny (Oxford, N.J.) went 1-3 with a RBI and run scored.
• Freshman RHP Madison Shura (Wallingford, Conn.) got the start on the mound, allowing 10 runs with seven earned off eight hits in 4.0 innings.
• For Felician, Nicole Spiegelberg went 1-1 with a home run, three RBI and two walks while Keelee Davis went 2-2 with two runs scored and one walk. Trinity Garcia surrendered two runs off seven hits in 5.0 innings of work in the winning effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
• Leading off the contest with a single, Bordonaro scored off Berezny double with a Ryder base hit platting Berezny to create an early 2-0 lead.
• Felician used a three-run home run from Spiegelberg to take the lead with a bases-loaded double from Jackie Ribaudo and Concordia error scoring all three baserunners before a two-out single from C.J. Apacible platted Ribaudo to create a 7-2 advantage.
• Loading the bases with no outs in the bottom of the second, Felician extended the separation to 8-2 off a sacrifice fly from Mia Montoya.
• Leading off the bottom of the fourth with a walk, Monica Laverty rounded the bases off a Jaime Parisi single with a Clippers' error allowing Davis to score to make it 10-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 1)
• Concordia tallied seven hits while the Golden Falcons had eight.
• The Clippers left eight runner on base, Felician stranded five.
• Concordia recorded two errors.
• Felician stole one base.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 2)
• Ryder went 3-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
• Cruz went 1-3 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBI and one walk.
• Freshman second baseman Ellen Little (Port Deposit, Md.) went 2-5 with one run scored and one RBI.
• Sophomore RHP Ashley Walsh (Scranton, Pa.) tossed a complete game for Concordia, allowing 13 runs with eight earned off 13 hits.
• For Felician, Krystina Lorch went 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Parisi went 2-4 with four RBI and one run scored. Trinity Garcia earned the victory, allowing two runs off three hits over the final 2.2 innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
• Felician took advantage of an early Concordia error to score two runs in the bottom of the first.
• Leading off the top of the second with a single, freshman first baseman Ashdon Clark (Gouldsboro, Pa.) rounded the bases off a sophomore third baseman Carly Acuña (North Hills, Calif.) single with Ryder touching home plate on a Felician throwing error before a home run from Cruz scored herself and Acuña to take a 4-2 lead.
• Opening the bottom of the third with back-to-back base this, Felician used ground balls from Steph Donah and Davis to score Apacible and Lorch before a single from Parisi platted Donah to give the host a 5-4 edge.
• Reaching base with a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth, Cruz evened the score at 5-all off a two-out single from Little.
• Loading the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fifth, Parisi sent three Golden Falcons home off a double before a Jackie Ribaudo single and pair of Clippers' errors allowed three runs to score with a Lorch triple platting one more to create a 12-5 score.
• Back-to-back singles from senior pinch hitter Tori Tansley (Old Forge, Pa.) and Ryder with one out and runners on first and second in the top of the sixth scored Little and Berezny to make it 12-7.
• Spiegelberg used a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to extend the separation to 13-7.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 2)
• Concordia tallied 12 hits, the Golden Falcons had 13.
• The Clippers left 10 runners on base, Wilmington stranded four.
• Concordia committed four errors, the host had two.
• Concordia stole one base, Felician swiped four.
