BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College New York softball team travels to Clermont, Fla., to begin its 2019 season with eight contests, taking on the College of Saint Rose, Wayne State (Neb.), Walsh University, Concordia University St. Paul, Malone University, Lake Erie College, St. Thomas Aquinas and Urbana University between Wednesday, Mar. 6 and Saturday, Mar. 9.

Concordia begins the new season after going 8-24 during the 2018 campaign with a 6-20 mark in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

The Clippers hit .245 (196-801) as a team last season with a .298 slugging percentage off the strength of 23 doubles, one triple and six home runs while tallying 67 RBI and 61 walks. Senior catcher/first baseman Tori Tansley (Old Forge, Pa.), senior catcher/third baseman Allison Beltz (Whitehall, Pa.) and sophomore third baseman/second baseman Carly Acuña (North Hills, Calif.) return after playing in every contest last season, with Tansley leading the team with 16 RBI and tallying the Clippers' lone triple on top of a home run.

Taylor Phillips represents the top returner after recording a .345 batting average as a freshman with seven doubles and a team-best three home runs while Kaitlyn Peacock recorded 17 RBI and Chloe Allen stole three bases.

On the mound, the Storm held a team ERA of 2.83 with 119 strikeouts and 55 walks in 244.2 innings. Allyson Deemer led the pitchers in 2018 with a team-low 2.52 ERA over a team-high 113.2 innings with 61 strikeouts and eight victories.

About the Spartans
St. Thomas Aquinas opens its season in Orlando on Friday, Mar. 8 with a doubleheader against Jefferson University and Fairmont State after its initial season opener at New Haven was postponed.

STAC hit .265 (319-1204) as a team last season with a .380 slugging percentage off 60 doubles, eight triples and 21 home runs. Ashley Landolina hit a team-best .402 batting average in 2018 with 31 runs scored and three triples while Amanda Leone boasted 28 RBI, 10 doubles, and eight home runs.

On the mound, the Spartans recorded a team ERA of 4.01 with 121 strikeouts and 64 walks in 296.2 innings in 2018. Briana Keaveney held a team-low 3.42 ERA last season with 68 strikeouts while Colleen Borum logged a team-high 143.0 innings with both recorded seven wins.

About the Blue Knights
Urbana (0-4) travels to Florida being swept against nationally-ranked UIndy by scores of 8-0 and 9-1 on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

The Blue Knights are hitting .174 (15-86) as a team with a .233 slugging percentage off one double and two triples while tallying 10 walks and eight RBI. Mykee Holtz leads the team behind a .364 batting average with a double and two triple for a .818 slugging percentage. Mackenzie Frantz matches Holtz for the team lead with two runs scored and two RBI.
