NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Concordia College softball team visited Wilmington (Del.) on Monday to play in their final games of the season. The Clippers were defeated in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader as the Wildcats secured a 12-1 win in five innings in game one, then followed with a 6-0 victory.
Game one saw Wilmington score four runs in the first inning, a lone run in the second, and seven more runs in the third to lead 12-0. Concordia's only run of the game came in the top of the fourth inning as junior Tori Tansley (Old Forge, Pa.) recorded an RBI single to right field. Senior Sarah Ross (Dunmore, Pa.) pitched 4.0 innings for the Clippers in the loss as she allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits while striking out one batter.
In game two the Wildcats began by scoring three runs in the first inning to take the early advantage. Wilmington scored lone runs in the second, third, and sixth innings to take the 6-0 win as Concordia was held to only four hits during the game. Sophomore MacKenna Powell (Milford, Pa.) was tagged with the loss as she allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out two batters.
