Clippers Softball Earns 8-0 Win Over Chestnut Hill in Split of CACC Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA - The Concordia Clippers softball team visited Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader. Concordia was shut out, 8-0 in six innings, against the Griffins in game one, but bounced back for an 8-0 victory, in five innings, in the second game to earn the split on the road.

Game one had Chestnut Hill score lone runs in the second and fourth innings to hold a 2-0 advantage. A grand slam in the home half of the sixth gave the Griffins the 6-0 lead as Chestnut Hill added two more RBI's in the inning to win 8-0 in six innings.

The Clippers recorded three hits as junior Sarah Ross (Dunmore, Pa.) was tagged with the loss after allowing three earned runs on eight hits while striking out two batters.

In the second game Concordia's offense would shine as the Clippers took a 5-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Freshman Shayla Peterson (Bethlehem, Pa.) recorded two RBI's in the inning as junior Cassidy Gorgo (Millville, N.J.), Ross, and Peterson would score on errors.

Concordia put the game away in the fourth with tree more runs as sophomore Tori Tansley (Old Forge, Pa.) recorded two RBI's and Peterson added her third RBI of the game. The Griffins were unable to score any runs as the Clippers took the 8-0 victory in five innings. Peterson picked up the victory for Concordia as she gave up only four hits and struck out three batters.

The Clippers (4-16, 3-11 CACC) will next host #20 Caldwell on Thursday afternoon at Clipper Softball Field.
