Concordia Drops Doubleheader, 6-1 and 13-1, to CACC Foe Dominican

Orangeburg, NY – The Concordia College softball team took on Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Clippers scored a total of two runs as the Chargers ran away with a 6-1 and 13-1 victory.

Concordia began game one with a solo home run by Kristina Patrocinio (Edison, NJ) in the first inning. During the next five innings, the Clippers only managed three hits as their offense was unable to put anything together. Dominican took the lead in the bottom of the fourth off a two-run home run. The Chargers added a solo home run in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth to win 6-1.

Theresa Magnani (Bethpage, NY) pitched 6.0 innings in the loss as she allowed four earned runs on 12 hits while striking out three batters.

Game two would also favor Dominican as the Chargers scored nine runs in the bottom of the second to put the game out of reach in the early going. Angela D'Amico (Old Bridge, NJ) provided the only offense for Concordia as she hit a lead-off solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. The Clippers recorded three hits while Dominican had 10 different players record a hit in the game.

Amanda Ramirez (Lindenhurst, NY) would be credited with the loss as she allowed eight earned runs on nine hits in 1.1 innings. Maria Demartino (Staten Island, NY) and Magnani came in to close out the remaining 2.2 innings as the pitching staff allowed 13 hits in the game.

The Clippers (8-17, 5-13 CACC) will be on the road again for a conference doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom this Saturday. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1pm in Wilmington, DE.
