Clippers Fall at Home to Conference Opponent Georgian Court, 8-1 and 6-1

Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College softball team took on the Georgian Court University Lions in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Clippers could not get their offense going as they dropped both games, 8-1 and 6-1, for their seventh consecutive conference loss of the season.

The Lions jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning off an RBI single only to have Concordia respond with a run of their own in the home half of the inning. Laura Brezovsky (Yonkers, NY) hit a single to second base which scored Victoria Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, NY) on the play.

Georgian Court added the go-ahead run in the top of the second as the Lions never looked back. The Clippers only recorded four more hits in the final six innings while Georgian Court added six runs to take the victory. Theresa Magnani (Bethpage, NY) pitched the complete game for Concordia as she allowed five earned runs on 14 hits in the loss.

The second game would favor the Lions again as they scored five runs in the first two innings to take the early lead. The Clippers grabbed their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth as Kristina Patrocinio (Edison, NJ) hit an RBI triple to bring home Angela D'Amico (Old Bridge, NJ) from first base.

Georgian Court added one last run in the sixth inning as they secured their 23rd victory of the season. Amanda Ramirez (Lindenhurst, NY) received the loss for Concordia as she pitched a complete game and allowed two earned runs on 10 hits.

The Clippers (8-15, 5-11 CACC) will have a few days off to rest and prepare for their next doubleheader on Wednesday. Concordia will travel to Dominican College for a 3pm start in Orangeburg, NY.
