BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College New York men's and women's cross country teams both participated in five events during the 2018 season, opening the year with three-straight meets at Van Cortlandt Park followed by a trip to the MSMC Knight Invite before concluding the campaign at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship.
Opening the season running without a team score at the first meet, the women's cross country team saw improvements in each outing cultivating in every member running their fastest 5K times in the final race of the year. Three of Concordia's five races were 6Ks, with Caroline Mora running the fasting 6k-time by a Clipper during the 2018 season at the MSMC Knight Invite while Yeisy Cruz held the fastest 5k-time, set at the CACC Championship.
Cruz was the top finisher for Concordia in four meets, with Mora representing the first Clipper to cross the finish line once. Irene Pim finished second on the team three times, with Cruz and Nicole Triassi both holding one second-place finish within the team. Cruz, Triassi, Taylor Scruggs and Sarah Ross all ran in every meet.
Every member of the men's cross country team set their season-low time during the Clippers opening three meets at Van Cortlandt Park. Ishmeal Yemoh, Ruel Gordon, Justyn Gardner and Andrew Medina all ran their fastest time of the year during the season-opening meet, the Baruch Invitational, while Lorenzo Montegiorgi, Kyle Parris and Adonis Duran-Nunez all established their season-low times in the team's final meet at the nearby park, The York College Invitational.
Montegiorgi was the top-finisher for Concordia at every meet, with Parris representing the second Clipper to cross the finish line three times while Yemoh was second on the team twice.
