Clippers Run at St. John’s Fall Festival in Preparation of CACC Championships

Queens, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers cross country teams ran at the St. John's Fall Festival on Sunday in their final tune-up prior to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships. The women would finish in ninth place while the men finished in eighth as sophomore Daniel Koehler (Glendale, N.Y.) would run the fastest 5K of his collegiate career.

In the men's 5K race, Koehler's time of 17:44 placed him 6th overall in his run. His time is unofficially a new record at Concordia based on the result times in the archives. Junior Martin Miedzowicz (Montevideo, Uruguay) finished in 16th with a time of 18:18 while sophomore Ian Lescouflair (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior James Ebersole (San Antonio, Texas) crossed the line at 21:53 and 22:01, respectively. Sophomore Jake Matranga (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) rounded out the times for the Clippers with a time of 24:12.

In the women's 4K race, freshman Emily Schwiederek (Bridgewater, N.J.) led the team with a time of 18:52 finishing in 18th overall. Junior Jennie Heisler (Buffalo, N.Y.) crossed the finish line with a time of 20:36 while juniors Katherine Spreitzer (New York, N.Y.) and Arafat Omidiran (Nigeria) finished seconds apart with times of 9:54 and 9:56. Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, N.Y.) rounded out the times for Concordia with a time of 30:44.

The men and women will both be back in action on Sunday, October 21st at the CACC Championships at the Belmont Plateau, Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pa. The women will begin their race at 10am while the men will follow at 10:45am.
