Clippers Finished Highlander Invitational on Sunday

Newark, NJ – The Concordia College Clippers cross country teams were in action on Sunday as they ran in the Highlander Invitational at Branch Brook Park. The men finished 14th out of the 16-team field while the women finished 14th out of a 15-team field.

In the men's 8K race, Wendall Cory Brown (District Heights, MD) led the Clippers with a time of 31:04 placing 75th overall while Corey Grosskopf (St. James, NY) finished right behind him at 31:12.

Tamas Dobratka (Ada, Serbia) finished third for Concordia at 34:08 while Martin Miedzowicz (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Phil Mangerino (Bronx, NY) rounded out the times at 35:09 and 51:22 respectively.

In the women's 5K race, Shelley Monahan (Exeter, RI) finished 72nd overall at 23:21.  Katherine Spreitzer (New York, NY) came in second place for the team with a time of 28:36. 

Arafat Omidiran (Nigeria) finished third for the Clippers with a solid time of 30:37. Placing fourth was Jasmine McDonald (Inglewood, CA) with a time of 31:40 while Rita Boateng (Bronx, NY) finished at 34:15 rounding out the field.

"The next week off will provide the men and women time to heal up and prepare for the conference championships at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia" stated Head Coach Anthony Vaglica. The event will take place on Sunday, October 23rd with the women beginning their race at 10am while the men will start at 11am.
