BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its latest Division II National Polls on Wednesday afternoon, with the Concordia College New York men's tennis team maintaining its 27th ranking in the National Team Poll while sophomore Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) and freshman Maximilian Grundmann (Schwerte, Germany) took slight shifts up in the National Singles and Doubles Polls. The Clippers also stood still in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Regional Rankings, remaining at No. 1.
Concordia went 2-0 since the last rankings were released to improve to 17-3 on the season, defeating Chestnut Hill College 4-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Finals to earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday, April 27 before besting the New York Institute of Technology 6-1 on Tuesday, April 30. Concordia is 1-1 against teams currently ranked, defeating No. 46 Grand Valley State University 4-3 on Mar. 7 while falling against No. 4 Flagler 4-3 on Mar. 8
In the National Singles Poll, Fenoaltea jumped up to No. 53. The CACC All-Conference First Team honoree boasts a 20-2 overall record, defeating Chestnut Hill's Jesus Darias 6-1, 6-4 at the second position in Saturday's CACC Championship match.
Within the National Doubles Poll, Fenoaltea and Grundmann moved up five positions to rank 45th in Division II. The duo clinched the doubles point against Chestnut Hill on Saturday behind a 7-6 (7-5) victory over Thibault Gasser and Kai Adler for the pair's 11th-straight win.
Having already clinched a spot in in the NCAA National Championships the men's tennis team awaits its seeding with the regional rounds set to begin on Saturday, May 11 at sites to be determined.
