Men’s Tennis Wins Ninth CACC Championship Behind 4-0 Victory Over Chestnut Hill

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – For the ninth time since joining the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) during the 2009-10 academic year, the league's Men's Tennis Championship banner went to Concordia College New York as the Clippers defending its title on Saturday afternoon behind a 4-0 victory against Chestnut Hill College in the Championship match.

NOTES
• Concordia improves to 16-3.

• Chestnut Hill falls to 17-6.

• Both singles and doubles play ended with a 7-5 tiebreaker-point victory by Concordia on the third court.

• The men's tennis team has 18 total CACC titles, nine regular season crowns and nine tournament championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• At the top doubles flight, CACC All-Conference Second Team members sophomore William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) and freshman Jan Godfrey Seno (Cebu City, Philippines) fell to All-CACC First Team recipient Tom Pitchley and Erik Jorsal 6-3.

• CACC Player of the Year Senior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeux, France) and All-Conference Second-team honoree sophomore Henry Masters (Southampton, England) outlasted Gautier and fellow Second-Team member Jesus Darias on court two 6-4.

• With the doubles point on the line and the match on court three tied 6-all, All-Conference First Team recipient Sophomore Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) and freshman Maximilian Grundmann (Schwerte, Germany), the 50th-ranked pairing in the country, overcame an early 3-0 deficit in the tiebreaker point with the duo outlasting Thibault Gasser and CACC All-Second Team honoree Kai Adler 7-5.

• Chevalier bested Pitchley at the top singles position 6-2, 6-4.

• 60th-ranked Fenoaltea cruised to a 6-1 opening-set decision over Darius on court two before completing the straight-set sweep behind a 6-4 score.

• Masters outlasted Jorsal 7-5 in the opener at the third flight and 7-6 in the second with the tiebreaker point going Masters' way 7-5.

UP NEXT
The men's tennis team receives the CACC's automatic bid in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) National Championships, with the regional rounds set to begin on Saturday, May 11 at a site to be determined.
