NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Highlighted by senior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeux, France) being named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year and head coach Neil Tarangioli receiving Coach of the Year distinction, The No. 28 Concordia College New York men's tennis team had six representatives claim seven total honors by the league office on Tuesday morning with sophomores Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy), Henry Masters (Northampton, England), William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) freshman Jan Godfrey Seno (Cebu City, Philippines) and Chevalier earning CACC All-Conference accolades.
A two-time All-Conference First Team honoree, Chevalier began the 2018-19 campaign with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional doubles title while going 16-6 overall in doubles action this season and 10-6 in singles playing every dual match at the Clippers' top singles position. Within league play, the senior went a combined 13-0 with a 6-0 mark at the top singles slot and 7-0 record in doubles alongside Masters.
Chevalier is the ninth CACC Player of the Year winner in program history.
In his 38th season at the helm of the men's tennis team, Tarangioli guided the Clippers' to its ninth CACC Regular Season title behind its ninth undefeated conference record. Concordia has been represented in every ITA National Poll this season, while maintaining its No. 1 ranking within the East Region in both the ITA and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regional rankings during the 2018-19 campaign.
It is Tarangioli's eighth Men's Tennis Coach of the Year plaudit from the CACC and 28th in his storied career coaching the Clippers with 15 from the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYAC) and five from the East Coast Conference (ECC).
Setting the bar high with the ITA East Regional singles and doubles crowns during the fall, Fenoaltea earns his first postseason award from the league with First-Team honors after leading the Clippers with 36 combined victories including a 19-2 mark in singles action and 17-4 record in doubles split between time alongside Chevalier in the 47th-ranked duo and freshman Maximilian Grundmann (Schwerte, Germany) in the 48th-ranked pairing. In conference action, the 53rd-ranked singles player went 6-0 with a pair of triumphs at the top singles position on top of a 7-0 record in doubles.
The 2018 CACC Rookie of the Year and First-Team recipient, Nilsson receives his second-straight All-Conference nod with Second-Team distinction after going 17-3 in singles play and 15-5 in doubles primarily alongside Godfrey Seno. The sophomore went 7-0 in conference play individually, winning all his decisions in straight-sets with six 6-0 frames during league action while going 7-1 in doubles with a 6-1 mark at the top doubles position.
Masters receives his first All-Conference accolade with Second-Team honors following a 2018-19 campaign where the sophomore went 10-6 in singles and 12-6 in doubles. Masters ended conference play as the only member of the men's tennis team to go 7-0 in both singles and doubles action for an unblemished 14-0 league mark.
Godrey Seno earned All-Conference Second Team plaudit after matching Fenoaltea for the team lead in singles triumphs with a 19-1 mark while going 13-5 in doubles play. Within league play, the freshman went undefeated in singles action at 7-0 with a 7-1 mark in doubles primarily at the top position.
Concordia, the 2019 CACC Men's Tennis Regular Season Champions, awaits the winner of the CACC Championship First Round match between Chestnut Hill College and Post University in the Finals on Saturday, April 27 at the Meyers Tennis Center with first serve slatted for 12 p.m.
