Men’s Tennis Survives Three-Set Matches In 7-0 Victory at Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 44 Concordia College New York men's tennis team traveled to Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday afternoon, needing three sets to subdue the host in three singles matches with the top two positions going to the tiebreaker frame after the Clippers claimed the doubles point behind a pair of 6-1 triumphs in a 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory.

• Chestnut Hill falls to 10-4, 1-1 in conference play

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Sophomore Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) and freshman Maximilian Grundmann (Schwerte, Germany), the 42nd-ranked doubles duo, cruised to a 6-1 victory at the third doubles court over Jesus Darias and Kai Adler.

• Senior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) and sophomore Henry Masters (Southampton, England) outlasted clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 decision over Antonie Gautier and Adam Gavin

• Sophomore William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) and freshman Jan Godfrey Seno (Cebu City, Philippines) suffered their first setback at the top doubles position, pushing the 49th-ranked duo of Tom Pitchley and Erik Jorsal to their limit in a 7-5 result.

• 43rd-ranked Nilsson blanked Gautier in the opening set on the third singles court with a 6-1 second-set score completing the straight-set sweep.

• Grundmann outlasted Jorsal 6-2, 6-4 at the fourth position.

• Godfrey Seno clinched the match result behind back-to-back 6-4 triumphs against Adler at the fifth flight.

• After splitting 6-3 sets, No. 23 Fenoaltea defeated Darias 6-0 in the third set at the second slot.

• Masters and Gavin exchanged 6-3 sets at the sixth flight to force a third set, which Masters took 6-4.

• Playing from behind after falling in the opening set 6-3 on court one, Chavalier forced a third set against Pitchley with a 6-3 triumph of his own before prevailing in a 7-6 frame to end the match.

The men's tennis team begins the second half of the double round robin conference schedule on Wednesday, April 3 against Post University with first serve scheduled for 3 p.m.
