Strong Singles Play Leads Men’s Tennis To 4-2 Victory Against Findlay

ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 20 Concordia College New York men's tennis team recovered from a slow start in doubles play against the University of Findlay on Wednesday afternoon, prevailing in three straight-set singles matches and a three-set thriller to defeat the Oilers 4-2.  

NOTES
• Concordia improves to 4-2.

• Findlay falls to 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Tomas Kmetki and Jorge Barnuevo of Findlay upset the seventh-ranked duo of senior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) and sophomore Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) 6-4 at the top doubles slot.

• The Oilers clinched the doubles point behind a 6-3 decision over sophomore Henry Masters (Northampton, England) and freshman Max Grundmann (Schwerte, Germany) on court three.

• Sophomore William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) and freshman Jan Godfrey Seno (Cebu City, Philippines) were leading Carlos Blanco and Nicholas Kopylec 5-3 at the second position before the match was called.

• Findlay moved up 2-0 overall after Kmetko bested Chevalier 6-2, 6-2 at the first singles flight.

• Nilsson swept Alfredo Berlanga 6-2, 6-2 at the fourth position.

• After swapping 6-4 sets, Masters prevailed against Barnuevo at the third position in the super tiebreaker 10-6.

• Grundmann bested Sergio Palacio 6-4, 6-3 on court six.

• Godfrey Seno clinched the match for Concordia behind a 6-2, 7-6 triumph over Eduardo Munoz at the fifth slot

• Fenoaltea's match at the second position was left unfinished, with the 10th-ranked singles player ahead 7-6, 3-3 against Blanco.
