Clippers Men's Tennis Advances to CACC Championship Match After a 5-0 Win Over Jefferson

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - The Concordia College men's tennis team has advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship match after earning a 5-0 win over Jefferson at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club in the CACC Championship Semi-Finals on Saturday.

The match began with doubles play as the No. 1 duo of juniors Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) and Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) earned an 8-0 victory against Luis Molina Megias and Oskar Haedicke. The No. 2 duo of freshman Axel Oljons (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) followed with an 8-4 victory against Joao Pedro Molina Ma and Liviu Trifoi. The Clippers completed the sweep of the doubles matches as freshman Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) and freshman Henry Masters (Northampton, England) topped Joseph Sison and Jacobo Atri in the No. 3 match, 8-6.

Concordia only needed two singles wins to clinch the match victory as Evangelisti took a 6-0, 6-1 win against Haedicke in the No. 1 match and Nilsson earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Trifoi in the No. 2 match to give the Clippers the 5-0 win. The remaining four singles matches would go unfinished.

Concordia (14-4, 4-0 CACC) will now battle Chestnut Hill College on Sunday at 12 p.m. back at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club in the CACC Championship Finals. The winner of the match will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II National Championship.
