Concordia Men's Tennis Tops Reigning CACC Champions, Chestnut Hill, 7-2

PHILADELPHIA - The Concordia College men's tennis team defeated the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Champions from 2017, Chestnut Hill College, on Friday afternoon on the road by a score of 7-2.

The match began with the No. 1 duo of juniors Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) and Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) taking an 8-4 win over Lucas Bocaletto and Pedro Festugato Regalin as the No. 2 duo of freshman Axel Oljons (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) followed with an 8-5 victory against Jesus Darias and Antoine Gautier. The Griffins managed to take the No. 3 doubles match, 8-3, as freshman Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) and freshman Henry Masters (Northampton, England) were defeated by Felix Andre and Adam Gavin.

In singles play Nilsson began with a 6-3, 6-3 win in his No. 2 match over Darias while freshman Tomer Mendler (Tel Aviv, Israel) earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Festugato Regalin in the No. 4 match. Fenoaltea's 6-3, 6-3 win in his No. 6 match would be the match-clinching victory for the Clippers as he topped Gavin. Evangelisti would come away with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 1 match against Andre, but Masters was edged in his No. 3 match against Gautier 6-4, 7-6 (3). The No. 5 match featuring Oljons and Regalin would be the final match to finish as Oljons earned a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (2) come-from-behind victory.

Concordia (11-4, 2-0 CACC) will return home tomorrow to host Jefferson University for a CACC match at the Meyers Tennis Center beginning at 12 p.m.
