Concordia Men's Tennis Earns an 8-1 Victory Over Roberts Wesleyan

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers men's tennis team hosted Roberts Wesleyan on Thursday afternoon for a non-conference match at the Meyers Tennis Center as Concordia earned an 8-1 victory over the Redhawks.

Doubles play began with the No. 3 duo of freshman Henry Masters (Northampton, England) and freshman Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) earning an 8-1 win over Mathew Cruz and Harmeet Luthra as the No. 2 duo of freshman Axel Oljons (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) followed with a victory against Dustin Eshleman and Dennis Barlotta, 8-6. Roberts Wesleyan managed to grab one doubles win as the No. 1 duo of juniors Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) and Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) were edged 8-6 against Guido Janssen and Hugo Ball-Green.

In singles action Evangelisti began with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Janssen in the No. 2 match as Chevalier followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 1 match against Ball-Green. Nilsson took his No. 3 match in straight sets against Barlotta 6-3, 6-0 as did freshman Tomer Mendler (Tel Aviv, Israel) over Luthra in the No. 4 match 6-0, 6-1. The Clippers completed the sweep in singles as Fenoaltea topped Cruz 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 match while Oljons was victorious in his No. 5 match against Andrew Freeman 6-2, 6-2.

Concordia (7-3) is scheduled to visit Wagner College on Friday for a 2:30 p.m. non-conference match in Staten Island, N.Y.
