No. 25 Clippers Men's Tennis Tops Adelphi, 9-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The 25th-ranked Concordia College men's tennis team returned home on Saturday evening for a regional matchup against Adelphi University in the Meyers Tennis Center. The Clippers would earn the sweep against the Panthers, 9-0, as Concordia snapped a three-match winless streak.

Doubles play began with the No. 1 duo of juniors Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) and Alessandro Evangelisti (Latina, Italy) taking an 8-3 win against Matteo Cannavera and Luke Attride-Stirling as did the No. 2 duo of freshman Axel Oljons (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) over Sabin Adrian Saveluc and Connor Dove. The Clippers completed the sweep with an 8-6 victory in the No. 3 match as freshman Henry Masters (Northampton, England) and freshman Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) topped David Robres de Veciana and Ilya Kalabukhau.

In singles play Concordia began with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 2 match as Nilsson was victorious against Saveluc. Evangelisti followed with a victory against Cannavera 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 match as Mendler topped Veciana 6-4, 6-3. Masters battled to a 7-5, 6-1 win in the No. 4 match against Kalabukhau 7-5, 6-1 while junior Lars Olson (Chatham, N.Y.) took a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Dove in the No. 6 match. Oljons completed the sweep in singles play for the Clippers with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win against Attride-Stirling in the No. 5 match as Concordia took the 9-0 overall victory.

The Clippers (4-3) will next host the Dist. of Columbia next Saturday for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
